Thank you to everyone who supported Mosaic of Dance which was held on April 22nd in the IFC Auditorium. The dances appealed to all age groups and the enthusiasm expressed by the children in the audience was infectious and carried over to the rest of the audience. There was certainly a lot of audience “participation!”

The countries represented by the dances performed are wonderful examples of the wealth of cultures that can be found within the World Bank family. What a marvelous mosaic of movement and music!

We would like to thank all the performers who volunteered their valuable time to make the evening a resounding success. DVD of the performance is available for viewing at the WBFN office.

The money raised from the evening will go towards scholarships to benefit women from developing countries who are studying in the U.S. and Canada. After they finish their degree, these women plan to return to their countries and engage in work that will benefit the lives of women and children. Since its founding in 1981, the MMMF has awarded 105 grants totaling $825,400 to women from 51 countries. This year scholarships will be awarded to ten women; please click here for more details.

Profound thanks to Vim Maguire and all the volunteers who organized this program, especially Alison Ordu, Pat Streifel and Zane Stuggins.

MMMF would also like to recognize and warmly thank Geremie Sawadogo, Manager, WB Global Mobility and WorkLife Program, for opening and closing the Mosaic of Dance with his superb performance, drumming up the proceeds of the evening. |
