Twice a month two WBFN spouses host in their homes informal gatherings called Open
House or Get-Together. Usually these Get-Togethers are on the second Tuesday in Maryland and the third or the fourth Tuesday in DC or Virginia. They start around 10:30 a.m. and officially last about two hours. There is no need to bring anything, as the hostesses always prepare a nice buffet per their fantasy and time. They warmly welcome the Welcoming Team and all the guests, who want to spend a morning with a nice group of people with a cup of tea or coffee.

Male Spouses are welcome too!!
Besides spontaneous chatting, we mostly find a time when we all sit together and shortly present ourselves to the rest of the group. It’s very interesting to listen to other spouses’ stories, where they come from, the countries where they used to live and what was or presently is hard or tough for them after relocation to the DC area.
We are always happy to see new faces, especially newcomers who usually need our help or advice. But it’s also about meeting friends or people we haven’t seen for some time. I do not remember any male
spouse coming, although it might be inspirational and useful for them too. We are not only stay-at-home mums, neither have we all had kids. So, guys, do not hesitate to come to meet us and share your stories and experience. There is no need to register or RSVP. Just show up! If you wish to join us, but have small kids and do not have childcare for that day, you can contact the hostess. Usually kids are also welcome. We will look forward to meeting you.
Please find the details about the location of the Get-Togethers and the contact information of the hostess in the current issue of Mosaic, on page 5, or in the interactive calendar on our website www.wbfn.org
If you need transportation, please contact either the hostess, area coordinator or one of the members of the Welcoming Team. There is no condition that only DC/VA residents can come to the DC/VA Get-Togethers. On the contrary, we would like to motivate more people coming to all our Get-Togethers and appreciating the hostess’ hospitality.
And if you are one of those who want to open your home to our members, your kindness is more than welcome. Please contact us by emailing us at wbfnwelcoming@worldbank.org
