Summer is over, and Fall is almost upon us. October is an enchanting month when it comes to changing scenery! The crisp clean air has a smoky fragrance, and the leaves are just beginning to turn color; pumpkins are everywhere and all are getting ready for Halloween. You cannot go wrong in enjoying the change of seasons…so make the most of this October! October is not only a transition time for the seasons, …it is also a transition month for us when we need to look ahead and plan for future activities. We have settled into our new routine and it is a good time to examine what we want to do, forge new friendships and take some decisions. Appropriately, this month, our Mosaic team member Henry writes about his transition experiences in “Making Transition Work” and has some tips for our readers. Our highlight this month is the article by Grace Handy, a MMMF grant recipient who writes about her experiences in Washington DC and how she was touched by the work of a small group of ladies who are determined to “Change the world one woman at a time.” Our Teens article presents the concept that both the World Bank cafeteria and DC restaurants dish out the best global food! Since October heralds Fall, we have lined up a list of Fall things to do. Also, Heidi brings you a succinct write-up on the diversity of the Bethesda area. And, you can learn about the importance of taking a few steps to prepare for the worst (even if it won’t happen to you!) through the interview with Catherine Mathieu and Otaviano Canuto, who recently lost one of their sons. We have inspiring stories for you and we hope that you will find them worth reading!
